By carrying out the Kwande Youth Program (KYP) creed that “all students are valuable; none are expendable,” KYP seeks to motivate students to become Chemical Engineers of the future by offering bursaries to Grade 12 students that have obtained symbol “A” in Mathematics and Science and motivate those in school into pursuing studies in Mathematics and Science. KYP seeks to increase the self-esteem of high school students and decrease the likelihood of dropouts to those at tertiary level.
On the 05th of August 2011, KYP hosted Thembisa High School Grade 12 Mathematics and Science students to give them an insight into the Petroleum Industry and to give them guidance as to which fields of study they can pursue after they matriculate.
The Seminar covered some of the key aspects of the energy sector which included: Overview of the Petroleum Industry in South Africa; Security of supply initiative: Public and Private Perspective; Career opportunities in the Petroleum Industry.
Thank you to Thembisa High School for making this event a success!
